Design

Harris Pye (BEK) has the facility to design new catering installations either for Marine or land based environments.

Harris Pye (BEK), with over thirty years experience can guide and assist our clients with their projects in all aspects of design, material selection and functionality and together with them arrive at a solution which is practical, ergonomically correct, meets the current applicable regulations and is delivered on budget.

As well as new build projects Harris Pye (BEK) has extensive experience in retrofitting in existing installations particularly in the cruise ship industry where space is at a premium and a large number of people work in a relatively confined space to produce a volume service of hotel standard food.

Working with the latest version of AutoCAD our experienced designers can work with ship builders, ship managers and those responsible for operating a catering facility to arrive at the most suitable layout. The importance of having galleys and kitchens set out properly cannot be overstated, work areas are to be defined and equipment positioned to ensure the minimum amount of traffic.

Our ability to produce three dimensional drawings and ‘walk through’ presentations enable the customer to view our proposals at the drawing stage and make any amendments they feel necessary. We have enjoyed long term business relationships with all major catering equipment manufacturers and can assist with equipment selection based on expected volumes and application.

Over the last few years and the emergence of Norovirus as potentially a major problem on cruise vessels has led to much enhanced regulations for hygiene standards on ships. These particularly apply to the construction methods used to manufacture food preparation facilities in high throughput kitchens to ensure that they can be easily and thoroughly cleaned. The United States Public Health (USPH) and United Kingdom Public Health (UKPH) are placing great emphasis on this. All of our marine products comply with USPH and UKPH requirements.
